英语还有一些特殊的省略结构，即一些不讲语法规范，约定俗成的习惯性表达。

一、习惯套语。举例：

Believe it or not. (=You believe it or not.) 信不信由你。

Why not go with me? (why don't you go with me?）为啥不和我一起去？

What if it rains? (= What would happen if it rains?) 下雨了可咋办？

We'll do the best we can. 或者，We'll do it as possible as we can. （can 后面省略 do）。我们尽力而为。

二、在 if, as if, though, when, while 等连词引导的状语从句中，如果从句主语与主句主语一致，或主语是 it，且谓语动词是 be，则从句主语和 be 动词可以同时省略。举例：

When rescued, he was almost dead. (= When he was rescued, ...) 他获救时，已经差点要死掉了。

Whenever possible, he will come to my help. (= Whenever it is possible, ...) 只要有可能，他就会来帮我。

三、连词的省略。举例：

Had he seen you yesterday, he would have asked you about it. (= If he had seen you yesterday, ...) 如果他昨天看见你了， 他就会问你这件事。

I know he has returned. (= I know that he has returned.) 我知道他已经回来了。

The man you were talking to is my English teacher. (= The man who you were talking to is my English teacher.) 你刚才与之交谈的那个人是我英语老师。

I don't like the way he talked to me. (= I don't like the way in which he talked to me.) 我不喜欢他跟我说话的方式。
